Empire State Building
Empire State Building is located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, at the
intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 34 th Street. It is very tall skyscraper with 102 floors. It has
a roof height of 1,250 feet (381 meters), and with its antenna spire included, it stands a total of
1,454 ft (443.2 m) high. There are 73 elevators in the building, including 6 freight elevators. The
style of the Empire State building is art Deco. It is made of steel, granit, brick, aluminum and
Indiana limestone.
The name of the Empire State Building came from the nickname for New York, it was
often called the Empire State. The architect was William F Lamb. The Empire State Building
was built between 1929 and 1931. It contains 3.194.547 light bulbs, so Empire State Building is
lit with colors that can be changed according to special event. It is also designed to serve as a
lightning rod for the surrounding area. The top of the Empire State Building is used for
broadcasting the majority of commercial TV stations and FM radio stations. And it has been used
in many famous movies, including : King Kong, Sleepless in Seattle, Independence Day, The
Day after Tomorrow, An Affair to Remember, Elf , Oblivion and Anchoring in Seattle.
