Strategy 22: Mystery Bags

Grade: 2
The object of this lesson is to encourage
curiosity and creative thinking. It will get
the students thinking about the upcoming
lesson by providing an introduction with
products related to the topic. It will allow
the students to work together and form
hypotheses about an object. It will also
allow for class discussion about the topic.

Mystery Bags- Activities


Each group of students will be provided a bag
with a mystery object in it.
The students job is to feel the object without
looking at it and try to determine what it is by
coming up with conclusions about the object.
The groups should share what they think and
develop hypotheses about the object.
As a class, we will discuss what each group
concluded and then reveal the objects.
The topic of the lesson will then be introduced.

Grade: 2

scientific reasoning, logic, and the nature of science by planning and
conducting investigations in which i) data are analyzed, and
unexpected or unusual quantitative data are recognized j) conclusions

This activity introduces scientific reasoning


and conducting hypotheses.
It shows the student to analyze data and
draw conclusions.
It helps with idea sharing and
communicating observations.
