This document discusses the pros and cons of Turkey joining the European Union. The pros are that Turkey has key oil and gas pipelines, a growing economy, good relations with Israel, large armed forces, a young population, and abolished the death penalty in response to EU demands. The cons are that Turkey is an Islamic nation while the EU is seen as a "Christian Club", Turkey's large size could give it too much power, its economy is not yet rich enough, and it does not recognize the Armenian Genocide. The document also summarizes that the EU deals with immigration problems by calling for tighter border control and streamlining asylum procedures.
