Manor Map Directions
Medieval manors were usually around 1500 acres, or several square miles in size. Particularly
powerful lords may have controlled multiple manors across the kingdom.
The king will provide you with a piece of posterboard. Your assignment (as a manor group) is to
create a map of your medieval manor. Here are the details:
Give your manor a creative but appropriate name.
Include the things one would have found on a manor, including but not limited to:
Castle (lesser nobles would have had a very nice house instead, but for the sake of
our simulation, we're going to assume your manor's lord is very rich and powerful!
Village with serf's cottages
Church
Mill
Fields
Common pasture
Forest
Include annotations that explain these places on your map. This is a chance to show what
you really know!
Be creative!
Maps will be judged as follows:
5 (Excellent)
4 (Strong)
3 (Fair/
Adequate)
2 (Poor)
