Particularly powerful lords, including monarchs, often built castles on their manors. You will be
researching medieval castles in order to prepare a blueprint of your manor's castle. (For purposes of
this assignment, the blueprint does not need to fit in with your manor map; rather, you want to show
geographic details that demonstrate strategic placement of your castle.)
Here are the details:
Give your manor a creative but appropriate name. (ex: Ravenswood Manor)
Include the features one would have found in a castle, including but not limited to:
Drawbridge
Mote
Barbican
Towers
Gatehouses
Courtyard
Curtain wall
Include annotations that explain these features on your map. This is a chance to show
what you really know!
Your blueprint must include a bird's eye view; you may include additional views or
illustrations to highlight features that can't be properly captured from a bird's eye view.
All drawings must be personally done; no pictures from the internet!
