Verbs in the Future Tense - Simple Future

The Simple Future tense has two different forms in English: "will" and be +
"going to". In todays class we will learn will. Both forms refer to a specific
time in the future.

Examples:
Enrique will help her later.
They are going to go home in two
hours.
They will go home in two hours.
I am going to finish work on time.
I will finish work on time.
Ana is going to come to class a
Ana will come to class a little late.

I wont drive tonight.
Im not going to drive tonight.

1. Use "going to" for a future activity.

A: There is a good program on TV tonight.


B: Yes. I know. Im going to watch it.
2. Use "will" when you decide to do something.
A: The door is still open.
B: OK. I will close it. OK. Ill close it.
3. Use "going to" for prediction in the near future.
A: Its cold today.
B: Yes, its going to rain later.
4. Use "will" for prediction in the future.
A: My hand hurts.
B: I hope it will get better soon.
