ROCK INTO READING

1.

The students are getting excited about the Rock into Reading Accelerated Reading challenge. Its time to really
hit the books and Rock and Roll into reading. The teachers have planned a month chock-full of special reading activities
especially for our students. Once again, it is a student self-challenge with a school goal of 9,000 points. The classroom
teacher and student will set a goal for each student individually. Each student meeting their personal goal will receive a
guitar pick necklace and a cardinal kudo. In order for the school goal to be met, each classroom will need 575 points. The
grand prize will be announced at the March is Reading Month kick-off assembly. You will also have an opportunity to win a
bike, play/cheer in the staff/student basketball game, or have computer time during the assembly by earning cardinal kudos
for the drawing. The Northwest Kiwanis has donated two bikes to be given away in a drawing.

KEICHER KONNECTIONS WEEK OF MARCH 2, 2015

We have a lot of reading to do so READ, READ, READ!
2. Everyone is looking forward to Spring Break. Enough of winter! Spring is around the corner, but winter is not over yet!
The temperatures are still really cold! Students need to get outside for a brief period each day, so be sure they are dressed
appropriately for the weather. Thanks for your help.
***Speaking of SPRING BREAK, remember it starts March 30th and we return to school on April 7h. ***
3.
BASEBALL, SOFTBALL AND T-BALL There will be a sign-up for baseball, softball, and t-ball on Saturday, March 7,
10:00a.m. 2:00 p.m., during the basketball tournament at the High School and on Tuesday, March 10, 5:00 7:00 p.m.,
during Math/Science night. All kids ages 4-14 (as of April 30, 2015 for boys and December 31, 2014 for girls) may participate
in the program. Late fees will be added to the original cost after March 10 th (no exceptions).
4. KINDERGARTEN ROUND-UP - Believe it or not, it is time to start thinking about the 2015-2016 school year. Kindergarten
Roundup will be held on Wednesday, March 18 th, 6:00 7:30 p.m. in the Arnold School gym. Students must be 5 years old on
or before September 1, 2015. Please pass this information on to a friend or relative who will have a child starting school in
the fall. If your child is already enrolled in Young 5s, you do not need to re-enroll. Any questions, call 764-5700.
5. Our CARNIVAL date will be Friday, March 13th. This event is a fundraiser, and many workers will be needed. If you are

PARENT POWER
There are many ways you can support your childs learning and school. Here are a few ideas:

Spend a few minutes every evening looking over handouts your youngster brings home. Fill out
forms to return to school the next day.

Tell your childs teacher if you can help them out at school or home.
Make sure teachers know you appreciate their efforts. From time to time, send a thank-you note or
an email.

Contact your youngsters teacher immediately if you see a problem. Working together will help your
child succeed.

Attend conferences, parent meetings, and school events regularly.
