The students are getting excited about the Rock into Reading Accelerated Reading challenge. Its time to really
hit the books and Rock and Roll into reading. The teachers have planned a month chock-full of special reading activities
especially for our students. Once again, it is a student self-challenge with a school goal of 9,000 points. The classroom
teacher and student will set a goal for each student individually. Each student meeting their personal goal will receive a
guitar pick necklace and a cardinal kudo. In order for the school goal to be met, each classroom will need 575 points. The
grand prize will be announced at the March is Reading Month kick-off assembly. You will also have an opportunity to win a
bike, play/cheer in the staff/student basketball game, or have computer time during the assembly by earning cardinal kudos
for the drawing. The Northwest Kiwanis has donated two bikes to be given away in a drawing.

PARENT POWER
There are many ways you can support your childs learning and school. Here are a few ideas:
Spend a few minutes every evening looking over handouts your youngster brings home. Fill out
forms to return to school the next day.
Tell your childs teacher if you can help them out at school or home.
Make sure teachers know you appreciate their efforts. From time to time, send a thank-you note or
an email.
Contact your youngsters teacher immediately if you see a problem. Working together will help your
child succeed.
