We are modeling the Nervous System.
The function of the nervous system is to operate the bodys essential functions by the
use of nerves and neurons.
Discuss your model
Our model demonstrates the somatic (conscious) part of the nervous system. It shows
the CNS as the switch and the PNS as the wiring and the servo.
We do not demonstrate that after the impulse is sent to the hand a signal is sent back
and received by the brain. Also we do not show the autonomic nervous system (unconscious).
We could demonstrate these functions with the timer, which was part of our original plan and for
the autonomic, we couldve had the hand respond by touch sensors of somewhat.

Discuss the design process

We thought of electricity, then of an animatronic hand or leg, and then we researched.
We narrowed them down and the hand was the best fit to demonstrate our body system.
The leg was dismissed because the hand was a challenge and more interesting.
The main problem was that our original plan required components we couldnt find so we
decided to narrow it down to electrical basics of a breadboard, then we rewired the servo to
work with a 3 way switch.
We had to redesign 3 times in 3 weeks.
Discuss collaboration
We all worked on the presentation, Poh did much of the soldering and hard electrical
work such as our first plan with the breadboard until our final plan, Logan soldered a few things
as well and worked on the simpler electronics like the 2nd and 3rd plan, Nick worked on the

hand construction including cutting the pieces, lining, and gluing the fingers plus little electrical
work, and Zach did little solder but facilitated much of the work like getting materials and
supervising the group.
We each did what we knew best to maximize our contributions.
Discuss project management
We didnt really have a leader, each person leaded at different times whether it was
getting the presentation done or getting the hand to work.
We communicated well to each other and suggested what was best as well as our ideas
We resolved disagreements by thinking deeper about each idea and which one would
work better in the long run.
Relate to the real world
In the real world our device could possibly be useful in helping peoples lives as well as
the design cycle and how many times we redesigned our model.
