PART 2: PROPOSAL

ERICK GONZALEZ

WHAT I YOU KNOW ABOUT YOUR PED IN

SPORTS ALREADY?
Many athletes use them
Has many bad side effects
Mostly frowned upon but people still use them
Boosts physical performance

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS SUBJECT OVER

OTHERS? WHY DOES IT INTEREST YOU?
This subject interests me because I myself do sports and
always wondered side effects and the reasoning for athletes
using them.

Many famous athletes have been known to use PEDs

There is much I dont know about them

WRITE TEN QUESTIONS YOU WANT TO FIND ANSWERS TO. AT

LEAST HALF OF THOSE CAN BE FACT-BASED. THE REST MUST BE
SUBSTANTIVE.
1. What are the good about it?
2. What is the bad?
3. Are the effects long-term or short-term?
4. How many different kinds?
5. What are the possible reasons people turn to PEDs?
6. Who are the people who use them
7. Why is it frowned upon?
8. Are they illegal?
9. Are there any PEDs that are allowed in sports?
10.Which ones are the most harmful?

FROM THAT LIST, CHOOSE ONE OR TWO OF THE

SUBSTANTIVE QUESTIONS THAT INTEREST YOU MOST. THESE
WILL BE YOUR PRIMARY INQUIRY QUESTIONS AS YOU BEGIN
YOUR RESEARCH.

What are the main reasons people turn to PEDs?

Why are they frowned upon?

LIST, WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU WILL FIND ANSWERS

YOU SEEK? POSSIBILITIES ARE ARTICLES FROM
POPULAR JOURNALS OR WEB SITES, SCHOLARLY
RESEARCH OR STUDIES, GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS,
INDIVIDUALS WHO MIGHT BE GOOD SUBJECTS FOR
INTERVIEW. WHAT QUESTIONS MIGHT BE DIFFICULT
TO
FIND ANSWERS FOR?
Websites

Articles
Health Teacher
Databases

IF THE RESULTS OF YOUR INITIAL RESEARCH ARE SO

NUMEROUS YOU NEED TO NARROW YOUR SUBJECT, WHAT WILL
YOU NARROW IT TO?

I could go and talk about PED in a specific sport maybe

baseball

Or I could talk about a specific PED

IF YOUR PRELIMINARY RESEARCH TURNS UP VERY LITTLE

INFORMATION, IN WHAT WAY WILL YOU BROADEN YOUR
SUBJECT TO OPEN UP MORE RESEARCH FINDINGS?

I could do addiction in drugs instead of PEDs

I went to the Cpcc online database called Credo and I looks

Run, swim, throw, cheat : the science behind drugs in

sport / Chris Cooper
I found a book in the CPCC library that is called
Run, Swim, Throw, Cheat by Chris Cooper.
