Raising awareness
For the last 2 years Diageo worked with an external partner, Moloney Search, to
headhunt our graduates. As such our brand presence on campus has been rather
limited. As such Diageo has since fallen from the Times Top 100 companies. After a
review of our strategy we have decided to bring graduate sourcing in-house but
maintain a very focused and targeted attraction strategy. Working more directly with
careers advisors and students we hope to bring Diageo back into the Top 100.

Raising awareness
Kerry Groups graduate programme has been established for over twenty years
and while the company is extremely well known in Ireland, we are trying to
establish more awareness among students in the UK. While many students may
be aware of our brands we find that they are not as aware of Kerry Foods as the
company behind these brands, this is something that we are really aiming to
change. Throughout the years we have targeted specific colleges and courses in
order to attract the right calibre of graduates for our business. In most recent
years we have found that while this strategy does work well for us, we would like
to raise the profile of the company in all universities so that students are more
aware of us, and of what our graduate programme can offer them.

The Company
Tate & Lyle has been refining sugar continuously at its London based refinery since
1878. 130 years later its still going strong and today employs around 1000 people,
including contractors. Not many companies have remained a favourite household
brand - producing the same family of products, at the same location, for well over a
century - so whats the secret of its success? The answer lies in its people and its
core values: safety, integrity, knowledge and innovation. So, while Tate & Lyle may
still be based in the same place, new developments continue apace.

Corporate Responsibility
Only last year, Tate & Lyle became the largest ever UK food and drink brand to
switch to Fairtrade (starting with its granulated white sugar) and a project is currently
underway to slash the refinerys carbon footprint by over 25%, thanks to pioneering
green technology developed by Tate & Lyles research and technology teams. Tate &
Lyle is also a major contributor to the local community: not just through financial
contributions but through a well-established program of mentoring and other support.

Cadbury UK- Graduate Recruitment and Selection Process

What does the selection process look like?

Our application is divided into five stages;
1. Complete our online application form a few questions assess on Judgement, drive and Influence.
2. Successful applicants will then be invited to sit on-line verbal/numerical tests.
3. The next stage will be a telephone interview with a recruiter for Cadbury assessed on Judgement, drive
and Influence.
4. Upon a successful telephone interview you will be invited to a face to face interview with recruiter/ line
manager, again assessed on Judgement, drive and Influence.
5. The final stage assessment centre will involve further psychometric testing, followed by an informal dinner
with managers and current graduates. The main assessment centre on the following day is designed to be
challenging but fun. Candidates will usually be informed of a decision within a week. The assessment is
assessed on Judgement, Drive and Influence and involves individual and group exercises. The assessment
centre also gives candidates a good insight into the culture of Cadbury and the opportunity to meet a variety
of senior management.
What do we look for in our graduates?
During the selection process Cadbury recruit on potential rather than experience. We therefore assess on
the following areas throughout the selection process.
Judgment
Adopting a sharp and rigorous approach to problems. Effectively spotting issues early, in a manner that
allows new opportunities and problems to be identified ahead of time, and new perspectives framed
Drive
Setting and pursuing goals without the guidance and influence of others. The desire to have a broad impact,
to question and challenge the status quo, and have the self assurance that enables goals to be achieved.
Those with high drive will want to 'leave a mark' rather than just achieve results.
Influence
Awareness of your own strengths and development areas and the ability to use this self-insight to manage
your own behaviour. Seeking feedback and acting on it. Being confident and clear in your views, and
expressing them openly with others. Taking a stance which you are prepared to defend if challenged.

Tips on the selection process can be viewed on our website at www.cadburygraduates.co.uk
