Bacteria, Virus, Fungi,

Oh My!
Introduction
Bacteria, fungi and viruses are microorganisms that live all around us. They serve
many purposes including aiding us in digestion, providing us with antibiotics, and are
even food in some cases like mushrooms! Unfortunately many are also virulent
pathogens that cause disease and are harmful to our health. This is why it is important
for humans to understand them, their life cycles and how they multiply. This
understanding leads to new treatments in diseases that interrupt the life cycles of
pathogens. In this activity you may use your textbook and other resources such as
websites to determine the basic characteristics and reproductive cycles of bacteria,
fungi and viruses. Create a short presentation to describe these characteristics in an
interesting and creative way. An example has been prepared for you. Use the checklists
below to help you.
