Effect of Early classes to Students and

their Academic Performance

Introduction:

Early start time or simply early classes are meant to help teachers and
students to cope more lessons. According to some teachers it is easier to teach
students in the morning when the students are still energized than the noon
time or the past 10 o c. which they believe the students lazy hours (SNA 3 rd yr.
teachers, 13-14). Because of the said early start time, many students have
lost their appetite on coming to school on time. When questioned about their
tardiness the students always use excuses, and the most used excuse is the
lack of sleep. Many students are chronically late to class (Bonnie Snyder:
Effective classroom management) students who display a passive-aggressive
personality style may do so in variety of ways, from chronic tardiness to
sleeping in class, thus not allowing them to catch up with the lessons. Some
researchers (Brown university, 1990s) confirmed that the puberty stage plays a
big role in this problem. Mark the beginning of a phase shift, with teens
sleeping later than the usual. Consequences of having this lack-of-sleepproblem are severe, impacting the teens physical and mental health, as well as
daytime functioning.
Psychologists also said that the normal wake up time of ones brain or
mind is actually at the start of 10 am, opposite to what some teachers believe
(referring to the paragraph above).
