School Council Meeting Minutes

Vice Chair- John Wiggins
Secretary- Tracy Giles
School Safety- School safety plan is updated yearly. Natalie Gibson is our school safety
coordinator this year. The school heart smart team is in place to help facilitate the use of
the AED if needed. Sargent Roach is available to help with school safety and the
Chestatee SRO is assigned to Lanier. All outside doors are locked daily & security doors
remained locked unless you are buzzed in by office. The RAPTOR system is still in place in
the front office.
Healthy Schools- We received the Bronze Award for Healthy Schools last year. We will
continue to work towards the Bronze Award this year. Natalie Gibson will organize this
effort this year.
Lanier Brochure- Mr. Wiggins & Mrs. Scheman worked on a brochure for new parents to
our school. This brochure contains information about our school. The brochure contains
contact information, school activities, community partners and extracurricular activities.
Lanier Signage/Logo- Hall County School System will be revamping/revising all school
logos/mascots. Lanier will be redoing our signage around school. The current Wildcat
mascot will be phased out & a new Wildcat will be created.
GAPSS Visit- Every 4-5 years a team of educators from within the county visits all
schools. The team will spend two days observing our school and giving feedback. Our
GAPSS visit will be on December 10th.
Hall County Schools AdvanceED Accreditation (SACS)- This will be a system accreditation
that will take place in February. Our school has submitted school/student data for this
review.
