A Brief report

on emergency shutdown wef 25.11.2014 to 2.12.2014 due to tripping

of Unit-II machine of
Stage-III Power Station , MePGCL , Kyrdemkulai.
A. On running with load of 30 MW , the Unit-II machine of stage-III power
Station tripped at 16:52 hours on 25.11.2014 .
Affect of the tripping :1. R phase Lightning arrestor blasted.
2.Burn out of the Generator Field Breaker.
Indication:
ENLO , ELO , Gen.Tr.REF Prot trip , Gen 2nd Rotor Earth fault trip.
RET 670: General trip , REF protection.
Relays operated:
86A , 86B , 51VAX , 51VCX.
B.

Action taken:
1.
Replacement of R phase Lightning arrestor , Surge counter by new
one.
2.
Dismantling , cleaning , refurbishing , reassemble of the Generator
Field Breaker.
3.
Connection of the earthing conductor at Tail race end.
4.
Overall inspection of the Generator Transformer , Lines from
Generator Transformer yard to Switch Yard , Switching equipment,
Relays panel.
5.
Break Down Voltage of Transformer Oil as on 26.11.2014.

Oil Filtration starts at 9:30 hours of 28.11.2014.
