Foundation:
small: 19 ch , medium: 25 ch, large: 31 ch

Mine is pretty flat but
here is another tutorial
if you think this is easier.

Round 1:
( Use a 4.0 or 4.25 mm hook) sc in 4th ch (counts as sc and ch 2) , sc 21, in last ch do this set
(sc 1, ch 1, sc 1, ch 1, sc 1). This should turn to the underside of the chains. Sc 21 (Here you can work in
tail and hide it in the sc), ch 1, slip stitch into 2nd chain of foundation chain.

Round 2:
ch 2, 2 sc in the ch 1 sp (from row 1), sc 22 , 2 sc in ch 1 space (from row 1) sc 1, 2 sc in ch 1 space (from row 1) sc 22, 2 sc in ch 1 space (from row 1,
right before you slip stitched), sl st in 2nd ch from initial ch 2 from the beginning of round 2.

Round 3:
Ch 2, sc 1, 2 sc in next ch, sc 23, 2 sc in next 3 st, sc 24, 2 sc in last stitch in round, 1 sc in same space as ch 2 beginning st, sl st into ch 2 space
from beginning of round 3

Round 4:
Ch 2, sc 2, 2 sc in next ch, sc 23, 2 sc in next ch, sc 2, 2 sc in next ch, sc 2, 2 sc in next ch, sc 23, 2 sc in next st, 2 sc, 1 sc in the same st as
beginning ch 2 st, sl st in 2nd ch from beginning of row 4.

Row 5: (switch to a 5.0 mm hook), ch 1 sc 65 in back loop, sl st in ch 1 space. Should have a total of 66 stitches. (Number of stitches needs to be divisible
by 6)
Body of Clutch

Row 1-2: (Use 5.5 mm hook)

sc in next st *Skip 2 ch, 5 dc, skip 2 ch, sc 1* Repeat **. This is the
shell stitch pattern
. Do 2 sl to the left going up the shell
and at the top of the shell do a sc. This is the beginning of the 2nd row. Repeat shell stitches**, end with a sl st at the same beginning sc.

Row 3-4:
(Use 5.5 mm hook) Shell stitches as Row 1 and 2

Row 5-6:
(Use 5.0 mm hook) Shell stitches as Row 1 and 2

Row 7-8
:
(Use 4.25 mm hook) Shell stitches as Row 1 and 2
Row 9
:
(Use 3.5 mm hook)
Shell stitches.. Sl st in last sc.
Row 10
: (This row is to make the stitches even. Switch to a 3.75 mm hook and use for the rest of the clutch.) Ch 3 (for a mock double crochet), hdc 1, sc 1,
sctog
1 (
single crochet decrease which is 2 st in 1
), hdc 1, *dc 1, hdc, sc, sctog 1 (2 st in 1), hdc. Repeat and end with sl st top of first ch 3. Finish off.
Band
Medium or large: If you are using a size large, you can do a row of sc decreases to make the opening smaller to fit a zipper better and to have a more
tapered look. 3 sc, 1 decrease sc, *3 sc, 1 decrease sc*. Repeat until end and sl st.

Row 1:
(Size small) Starting on side of purse furthest from where you finished off

,
Ch 1, sl next st and sl st all around.
Row 2
: Ch 1, sc all around in
back of sl st.
Row 3
: Sl st all around
Row 4
: Ch 1 sc all around, finish off
