Mrs.

Kolackis Class
Week of Jan. 26-30
During reading this week we
learned all about a man Frederick
Olmsted he designed Central Park
in Manhattan, New York. His design
contributions have been seen all
over America in other city parks.
The students are almost done
organizing their thoughts for their
Informational Essay, including topic
sentences and grabbers. Ask your
child; what is a grabber sentence?
Math this week, the students
completed Module 4. We are moving
onto Module 5 which contains fractions
and angles. Fun with Fractions!

Student Corner
This week in our class we are working on the
keys for the PARCC test! We were practicing
to flag stuff, to eliminate stuff and to highlight
stuff. I think the people who made the PARCC
test should have made it easier for kids!
Adults think the people made it too hard for
them and the kids! In Math we had a test I
didnt think it was hard enough but other
people in my class thought it was just fine. By

It is essential for your child to practice math facts

everyday (+,-, x, ). Math facts are the building
blocks of math!

This week in science we are on a

Web Quest to find many simple
machines in a common household.

Important Dates:
Feb. 3- SIP Day Early Dismissal
Feb. 13- Valentines Day Party

Hello Parents,
The weeks are flying by! This week the
students worked very diligently. We also
had our last session of DARE. The
students learned about internet safety.
Please take the time to discuss this
important issue with them. I will be
notifying party volunteers this week to
work out the agenda for the Valentines
Party. Have a football-tastic weekend!
Thank You,
Mrs. Linda Kolacki
