Baking: To cook a prepared batter in


the oven E.g. Cupcakes, vegetables,
pasta

Shallow frying: frying cold foods in a


pan with a small amount of oil E.g.
Schnitzel, chips, eggs

Grating: Using a grater and sliding it


off a food to produce thin strips of
the substance

Whisking: mixing a wet substance


to froth or combine the ingredients
E.g. Eggs

Sifting: refining a powder E.g. Flour,


sugar

Mixing: Combining a batter to


create a substance that might be
cooked E.g. Butter + icing sugar =
frosting

Straining: Dripping a liquid out of a


substance E.g. Straining Bocconcini,
straining pulp out of OJ
