Chemical Oxygen Demand ( COD )
COD is the amount of oxygen (mg O2) is required to oxidize the organic substances
contained in 1 liter water sample, wherein the oxidizing potassium dichromate
(K2Cr2O7) or potassium permanganate (KMnO4) is used as a source of oxygen
(oxidizing agent)
Chemical Oxygen Demand ( COD )
COD adalah jumlah oksigen (mg O2) yang dibutuhkan untuk mengoksidasi zat-zat organis
yang ada dalam 1 liter sampel air, dimana pengoksidasi kalium dikromat (K2Cr2O7) atau
kalium permanganat (KMnO4) digunakan sebagai sumber oksigen (oxidizing agent)
COD is the amount of oxygen required for the waste material that is in the water
can be oxidized through either chemical reactions that can be degraded
biologically and which is difficult to be degraded. The organic waste material will
be oxidized by potassium permanganate is used as a source of oxygen (oxidizing
agent) into CO2 and H2O gas as well as a number of chromium ions.
COD adalah jumlah oksigen yang diperlukan agar bahan buangan yang ada dalam air dapat
teroksidasi melalui reaksi kimia baik yang dapat didegradasi secara biologis maupun yang
sukar didegradasi. Bahan buangan organic tersebut akan dioksidasi oleh potasium
permanganat (KMnO4) yang digunakan sebagai sumber oksigen (oxidizing agent) menjadi gas
CO2 dan gas H2O serta sejumlah ion chrom.
