Vision:
A society in which every individual understands that gender equality is not a
men- versus- women issue, but a humanity issue
Mission:
To create a scholarship fund for young men going into high school in Kenya.
Beneficiaries will also be provided with mentorship and required to start an
initiative that promotes gender equality in their own communities.
Problem:
In Kenya, gender inequality denies women fair protection by the law, the
support necessary for socio-economic development, and access to key
political leadership positions.
The sole focus on women empowerment as a way to address gender
inequality has failed to empower men to understand their critical role in the
pursuit of equality.
Strategies:

Identify boys from an underprivileged backgrounds, who are driven to

pursue their education and show leadership potential
Reach out to male leadership in Kenya to ask them to join an
organization that is addressing the issue of boys being left behind since
most educational initiatives are being directed towards girls
Reach out to both women and mens gender empowerment initiatives
to pitch my approach on addressing gender inequality
Utilize my networks in media and government to get publicity on my
project
Obstacles:

Time: balancing being a student and an entrepreneur

Opposition from the society due to traditional attitudes on gender roles
Finding a sustainable source of funds
Resources:

My networks: Zawadi Africa Education Fund, MCW Contacts, Family,

Friends, Mentors
Existing organizations that are pursuing related causes
Location: I am currently as student in the US, so I can start fundraising
drives on my campus

Technology: I can create a website and utilize social media to get

publicity
Assessment/Benchmarks/Measurement:

Evaluation of the beneficiaries awareness of gender equality before

and after their participation in the program
Number of initiatives that beneficiaries successfully implement in their
communities
Number of mentors actively involved in the program
Report, Celebrate, Re-Vision:

A quarterly report to investors on the progress of the beneficiaries

academically and in their initiatives
A yearly report accounting for the use of all income received
An updated website with posts from the beneficiaries on their
experience
An annual dinner to celebrate milestones and thank sponsors
