In the Bulb, There is a Flower

VU 703

In the bulb there is a flower, in the seed, an apple tree,

in cocoons, a hidden promise: butterflies will soon be free!
In the cold and snow of winter theres a spring that waits to be,
unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

*Passing of the Peace

*The Call to Worship:
People of God, gather today; in this sacred space, in this
sacred moment.
For this time step aside from your daily concerns, for here
we recall the stories of faith.
Here we see God does not dodge dangerous places, here
we are called to stand and face our fears, here we
remember whose we are.

*The Opening Prayer:

Patient God, it's you we come with our questions:
Who are you? Who are we? What are we to be about in life?
Wherein is meaning? What is truth? How can we be born
again? As we open our seeking spirits, curious minds, and
needy hearts to you, help us remain steadfast in faith as we
wait for answers, willing to be challenged, ready for
surprises. Receive the worship we bring, in the confidence
that you do hear us, and are even now responding in your
love. AMEN

We Respond to Gods Word

Offering Invitation
*Response: Your Work O God Needs Many Hands

VU 537

Your work, O God, needs many hands to help you everywhere,

and some there are who cannot serve unless our gifts we share.
Because we love you and your work, our offering now we make;
be pleased to use it as your own, we ask for Jesus sake.

*The Prayer of Dedication:

Bless these gifts that we give today, for we lift our eyes and see
there is much we can do to bring about wholeness and healing in
our world. May they contribute in bringing light to dark
places.....AMEN!

*Sung Blessing: Go Now in Peace
Go now in peace, never be afraid,
God will go with you each hour of everyday.
Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true.
Know he will guide you in all you do.
Go now in love and show you believe,
Reach out to others so all the world can see.
God will be there watching from above,
Go now in peace, in faith and in love.

Faith Formation

Filled with Music

It was the duty of the trumpeters and singers to make
themselves heard in unison in praise and thanksgiving
and when the song was raised, with trumpets and
cymbals and other musical instruments, in praise to
God, For God is good, for Gods love endures forever,
the house, the house of God, was filled .
2 Chronicles 5:13

Imagine coming to Sunday morning worship or an Advent,

Christmas, or Easter service and having no music.
Now dream of worship where the Spirits presence is so palpable
that the congregation is compelled to linger long after the service
is over, not wanting the feeling to end.
This is how it is at MusicMatters, Music Uniteds annual general
meeting and learning event. Music United is an association of
United Church musicians from all over Canada dedicated to the
quality of our experience of music in the church. During a
weekend filled with fellowship, laughter, and topical workshops led
by notable and respected church musicians, composers, and
music educators, participants gain new ideas for enhancing the
role music plays in our communities.
As one of the 2013 hosts, the Rev. Andy ONeill of St. Pauls
United Church, Riverview, New Brunswick, put it: We enjoyed
moments of great laughter, spiritual deepening, and even dancing
in the aisles! We truly felt the Spirit moving.
Our support of Mission and Service enables music ministry
resources to be shared with the wider church. Thank you for
making this happen, and please lets continue to give generously.
Mighty and tender God, our gifts to M&S help your church to
do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with you.
