Rosa Parks

I chose Rosa Parks for this assignment because She was a very courageous and
determined women who stood up for what she believed in. Also because of her beliefs that an
African American should have the same rights as whites. I feel that all people should stand up for
what they believe in and I feel like Rosa Parks wasnt letting anyone push her around and tell her
what to do, because in her eyes she and any other African American were just as equal to any
white person, and she wasnt gonna be told any different without putting up a fight. Rosas
journey was never a piece of cake. Since her birth on February 4th 1913. Rosa was exposed to
early experiences with prejudice people and those who wanted equal racial rights. For example
once her grandfather stood at the front of their house with a shotgun as the Ku Klux Klan
(K.K.K) members marched down the street. After Rosas parents separated, Rosa moved with her
mother to Pine Level, Alabama to live with her mothers parents, both of which were slaves, and
had very strong feelings for racial equality. Also In 1932, when Rosa was 19 years of age she
married the love of her life, his name was Raymond Parks. He was a barber and he was also a
member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. With his support in
1933 Rosa earned her high school degree. Soon after she got her high school degree she became
a involved with civil rights issues by joining the NAACP in 1943. She was the chapters youth
leader as well as the secretary to the NAACP president E.D Nixon. Through all of this chaos
Rosa stayed strong and and kept a positive attitude even when it felt like she couldnt go any
farther. Through Rosas bravery she made history and still to this day we remember Rosa Parks
as a women who changed history, and a woman who stood up for what she believed in.
