Early Life
Oprah Winfrey was born on January 29,
1954, in Kosciusko, Mississippi
She lived in a small town during her
childhood in a poor family and had an
abusive childhood
Later moved to Tennessee to live with her
dad

Education
She attended Lincoln Middle School in
Milwaukee
Transferred to Nicolet High School
She was the only African-American student
at Nicolet
Attended Tennessee State University in 1971

Jobs
In 1976, Winfrey moved to
Baltimore and hosted a show
called People Are Talking
Got recruited to have her
own show called A.M.
Chicago
1986 she launched the
Oprah Winfrey Show

Fame
She became one of the top talk
shows on television
The show received three Emmy
awards
Won Best Broadcaster of the
Year
Youngest woman to receive
these awards

Success
She is most well known for being positive,
healthy lifestyles, and more
She is the one of the richest African-Americans
in the 20th century and richest female AfricanAmerican in the world
In 2005, she raised over $51 million for charity
In November 2013, Barack Obama gave her an
award for contributing to the country
