Aims of session
Empower parents to help with writing at
home by sharing strategies, games and
resources.
To close the gap between reading and
writing.
For parents to enjoy writing as well as
reading with their children.

Writer Talk
The aim is to encourage children to read
with a writerly eye!
Stories can act as blueprints for the
childrens own compositions.
We need to develop greedy readers and
then turn them into writers who are attuned
to the daily possibility of learning how to
write from their reading the curiosity of a
fellow writer.

Year 2 to 3 Transition
What will a typical Year 2 leave Key Stage 1

Understanding of basic punctuation
Sentence formation
Sequencing of ideas and events
Knowledge of linking and grouping ideas
Writing at length (half a page of A4)
