    Nucor Corporation was founded in 1904 as the Reo Motor Car Company by Ransom Eli Olds. It later diversified into manufacturing trucks and lawn mowers under the names Reo Motor Company and Reo Motors. In 1955, Reo Motors was acquired by TelAutograph Corporation and renamed Nuclear Corporation of America. After 1960, Nuclear Corporation diversified into additional businesses including air conditioning ducts, aerospace, tin cans, and plain paper copiers. In 1972, the company was renamed Nucor Corporation after facing bankruptcy in 1965 and reorganizing under new leadership.

    Reo Motors filed bankruptcy in 1965
    Kenneth Iverson took over as president after replacing David Thomas
    Nuclear Corporation was renamed as Nucor corporation in 1972.
