Breakfast:

Knckebrd: buttered sandwich with toppings like hard cheese, cold cuts,
messmr (a sweet spread made from butter and whey), caviar, ham and tomatoes
or cucumber
Filmjlk: fermented milk (usually served with cereal)
Porridge: rolled oats eaten with milk and jam or cinnamon and sugar
Drinks: milk, juice, tea, coffee

Main Courses (lunch and dinner)


rtsoppa: yellow pea soup

Kldolmar: Cabbage rolls. These are a Swedish variation of the Turkish dolma,
and date back to when Charles XII returned to Sweden from the Ottoman Empire.
Flygande Jacob: Casserole based on chicken with bananas, peanuts
and bacon. "Invented" in the 1970s.

Inkokt lax: Boiled salmon, together with onion and carrots, in a mixture of water,
vinegar, salt, sugar and some other spices. Usually eaten cold, commonly together with
mayonnaise spiced with dill and lemon.

Desserts:
ggost: A dish originating from Bohusln. In the southern parts of the county
it is traditionally served as a dessert along with whipped cream, sugar and
blackberry jam, but in the northern parts it is usually seen as a main dish or
breakfast and often served with pickled herring.
Pannkaka: Pancakes are almost never served for breakfast ("American style") but either as
dessert with sweet jam and/or whipped cream, or as a meal in itself, using
fewer sweet toppings. (Pancakes for dinner can be thick oven-baked pancakes
with pork meat or apples inside.)
