What is a virus?

program that can replicate itself and
spread from one computer to another.
In order to replicate itself, a virus must be
permitted to execute code and write to
memory. For this reason, many viruses
attach themselves to executable files that
may be part of legiment programs.

Antivirus is a software that protects the
computer system from any malware or
other harmful softwares like virus, worms,
trojan horses, etc.
Computer security, including protection
from social engineering techniques, is
commonly offered in products and
services of antivirus software companies.
