Communicating important message to different cultures via advertisements

This project is designed to allow students to apply the concepts from most of the chapters done so far.
Material seen in chapters on Attitudes, Attitude Change, Interactive Communications as well as
Individual Decision Making, Buying and Disposing should be of specific interest.
Each group of students is to identify two commercials (videos have to be saved and presented to
students in class), communicating this same product, service or company (in case of corporate
communication ads).
The group will develop a detailed analysis of the ads in a parallel manner as to illustrate similarities
and differences between them fully explaining each occurrence. The usual diagnostics should be used
to describe those ads:
Dialogue
Characters
Theme
Sound effects
Description of the action
Critical analysis of any ethical dimensions and issues that are raised in the ad as per
target audience

Furthermore, each project should have a well-developed description of target audience and
should contain any significant information which could cast additional light aiding in
understanding the communication used. Please assume that viewer of your presentation has a
limited knowledge of either culture.
A presentation (PPT preferably) should include viewing of ads, detail analysis given orally in
class and a professionally constructed portfolio to be hand-in at the time of class presentation.
