This summative report is to be completed after the post-conference of the supervisors last visit with the
cooperating teacher and student teacher. This report is based on a minimum of two observations and is to
include conversation and consultation with the student teacher and whenever possible, with the
cooperating teacher.

1. Professional Conduct/ Competencies

Summary Comments:
Although this is Alyssas first experience taking total responsibility for a subject in the classroom, she is
already displaying many of the qualities of a great teacher. Her lesson plans were well mapped out and
included SCOs, examples of problems she will solve with the students and an extension for students who
want/need the challenge. Alyssa responded very positively to the feedback I provided.
Alyssa presents herself very well in the classroom. It is obvious that she is at ease and loves working with
her students. Her attitude is very professional and she has developed a very positive and respectful
relationship with her students.

2. Preparation and Planning

Summary Comments:
Because of Alyssas background, she has a very good understanding of the Math outcomes she has to
teach, and her planning demonstrates that she has a clear understanding of the different needs and the
different styles of learning in her classroom.
Alyssa does planned check-ins with her students to find out where they are in their understanding of the
concept. She is also conscious of any adaptations that might be necessary for some students and
includes them in her lesson plan so they are at the forefront when she is teaching her lesson.

3. Teaching and Learning Environment

Summary Comments:
The positive atmosphere of mutual respect fosters a learning environment where students take ownership
of their learning. Alyssa is a good facilitator and is as comfortable in front of the large group as she is
working one-on-one with individual students. Her classes are all inclusive and it is obvious that all
students feel a sense of belonging to the group.
Alyssa continued with some routines that were already established in the classrooms and was eager to
receive feedback on how she could improve and maintain a good balance of classroom management and
a safe inviting environment.

4. Classroom Instruction and Assessment

Summary Comments:
Alyssas delivery is smooth. Procedures and directions are clearly explained and if there are any
misunderstandings she is quick to address them. Transitions within the lesson and at the end of a lesson
are smooth.
Alyssa is conscious of the importance of good questioning and is ready to challenge her students to meet
her expectations. My only suggestion would be to ask the questions to individual students instead of
making them open to the whole class which often results in the same 2 or 3 students answering all the
questions. Being careful to choose to the right question for each student, she will get another quick checkin into their understanding.
Alyssa is also creative and has designed an activity to engage students and appeals to their learning
style, sense of curiosity and competitive nature. It was a very safe and friendly competition that
encouraged the students to push themselves a little more than they might if they were just solving a
problem from the textbook.
