Sonnet 105
Shakespeare's sonnet 105 is a sonnet about declaring and justifying his love. Throughout
the poem, he proves to us that his love is undying and true. The diction, and repetition of certain
words or phrases strengthens his points about love. Shakespeare tells us that his love is still
exciting ...still constant in wondrous excellence (Shakespeare.105.6). Shakespeare tells us in
the beginning of that poem that he doesnt want others to judge his love, and that it is real love
by using ...let not and nor (Shakespeare.105.1-2). The tone of the poem is almost
persuasive, as Shakespeare tries to justify his love. Shakespeares relationship, with this
anonymous person, was strong and true. He also says the repetitive statement Fair, kind, and
true (Shakespeare.105.9), because these three themes are the most important parts of the
theme, the part that he wants the reader to easily identify. In the end Shakespeare makes a
statement about how the three themes, fair, kind and true arent often true in one situation but
how in his relationship it is ever so true. The tone of the poem is almost persuasive, as
Shakespeare tries to justify his love. He doesnt want his love to be poked at, or to be thought of
as wrong. He wants the reader to know that his love isnt untrue, nefarious or immoral. Sonnet
105 is a mix of themes to convey his passion and forever love for this person.
