County System of Care

What is a system of care?


A complex network of service providers that work together to

support families

Have different roles in the case, based on their primary mission


Refer families to each other to address different needs

Compromised of private and public (governmental) agencies.

Private agencies are typically 501(c)3 nonprofits. They are often referred to as
CBOs (Community-Based Organizations)
CALM is a CBO.
Other large CBOs include:

Family Service Agency (FSA - Santa Barbara/Lompoc)


Community Action Commission (CAC County-Wide)
Santa Maria Youth and Family Services (SMYFS Santa Maria)
Casa Pacifica (County-Wide)

Public Agencies
Public agencies are administered by state or county

government, and are funded by a complex stream of


federal, state, or local revenue.
These agencies exist throughout the state, usually
administered by each county. The six largest include:

SB County Alcohol, Drug, and Mental Health Services (ADMHS)


Law Enforcement (District Attorney, Police/Sheriff, Probation,
Courts)
Child Welfare Services (CWS)
Public Health
Tri-Counties Regional Center (TCRC)
