Sahara Desert
The Sahara is the largest subtropical hot desert. At over 3
million miles long it covers almost all of North Africa and is
almost as big as China or the United States
Sahel
A zone of transition in Africa between the Sahara
Desert and the Savanna.
Savanna
A grassy plain in tropical and subtropical regions with
few trees.
Congo River
Located in Africa it is the worlds deepest river and the
second largest river in the world.
Niger River
It is the third longest river in Africa after the Nile and
Congo. The Niger is also known as the principal river
of Western Africa.
Nile River
The Nile is a major north-flowing river in northeastern
Africa, generally regarded as the longest river in the
world.
Lake Tanganyika
Lake Tanganyika is an African Great Lake. It is
estimated to be the second largest freshwater lake in
the world by volume, and the second deepest, in both
cases, after only Lake Baikal in Siberia.
Lake Victoria
Lake Victoria is one of the African Great Lakes. The
lake was named after Queen Victoria by the explorer
John Hanning Speke, who was the first European to
discover it.
Atlas Mountains
The Atlas Mountains is a mountain range across the
northwestern stretch of Africa extending through
Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
Kalahari Desert
The Kalahari Desert is a large semi-arid sandy
savannah in southern Africa.
Egypt
Egypt is a country spanning the northeast corner of
Africa and southwest corner of Asia.
Kenya
Kenya lies on the equator with the Indian Ocean to the
south-east. Kenya has a warm, humid climate along
its Indian Ocean coastline, with wildliferich Savannah grasslands inland towards the capital.
Nigeria
Nigeria is often referred to as the "Giant of Africa",
owing to its large population and economy. Nigeria is
the most populous country in Africa and the seventh
most populated country in the world.
South Africa
South Africa is the 25th largest country in the world by land
area, and with close to 53 million people, is the world's 25 th
most populated nation. Africa is a has many different ethnic
groups which means a wide variety of cultures, languages,
and religions.
Sudan
Sudan is an Arab republic in the Nile Valley of North
Africa. The Nile River divides the country into
eastern and western halves. One of the more
dominate religions is Islam.
South Sudan
South Sudan is a landlocked country in northeastern
Africa that gained its independence from Sudan in
2011.
