School Counseling Experience

Substitute School Counselor
01/2015 present
at Parklawn Elementary School
At Parklawn Elementary I have contributed to the counseling program through classroom lessons, small groups, and
individual counseling. I have communicated with teachers, parents, and staff to support students academic, social, and
personal needs. I have collected data to evaluate and improve the counseling services provided. I have also attended
key informational sessions including RI [Responsive Instruction], CLT [Collaborative Learning Team], and the middle
school transition.
School Counseling Internship
08/2014 12/2014
at Jamestown Elementary School
I worked with students individually and in groups in support of the schools comprehensive school counseling
curriculum. I researched, planned, and implemented a five-lesson academic planning curriculum with the 5th grade
students based on their career and college interests and goals. I used data to assess areas of need in the school, to
measure the student comprehension of the taught material, and to ascertain the long-term impact on their academic
achievements. I also met with teachers, administrators, parents, and other community members to assess student needs,
collaborate on delivery of services, and advocate for the students.
School Counseling Practicum
01/2014 05/2014
at Arlington Mill High School
At Arlington Mill High School I worked with students individually, facilitated groups, and organized student events. I
also initiated and built relationships between the program and community organizations that could benefit the students.
I really enjoyed working with the diverse student body towards career and college readiness and I planned, advertized,
and facilitated a series of lunchtime clubs aimed at exploring and preparing for post-secondary plans.
