There are center activities out as well as a place for independent work.

Parallel Block Scheduling allowing students to interchange between
homogeneous and heterogeneous groupings for ELA & Mathematics.
This model can be expanded over the entire two hour period devoted to
humanities.

Hands-on active learning centered on investigating a real-world problem.
Learning is driven by a challenging open-ended problem with no one right
answer. Students work as investigators and collaborate with their peers.
Teachers serve as facilitators and guide them through the process.
Teachers create an inquiry-centered classroom. Creatively design
assessments that will assess the application of knowledge rather than
recall of facts.
