Laying Down a Carpet

This land is blemished

With imperfections.
From far away,
These buildings
Are rocks and
Pebbles, making the
Ground uneven.
Come watch as we
Smooth the land.
Come watch as we
Lay down a carpet.
These pebbles of
Houses will be gone,
As will their occupants.
Everything will shatter
Into the sky, and
rain back down.

Ashes will fall,

And they too
Will be like a carpet.
It will be barren,
beautiful, and black.
Come watch
As we lay down
A carpet. Come watch
As we finish furnishing
Your old home.
