Malaria kills over one million people a year, mostly children. 90% of these deaths are in poor parts of Africa that cannot help treat malaria within their borders. If you continue using artemisinin-based combination therapies and mosquito nets I believe that this treatable, curable disease can really be eradicated.

Del Mar Middle school 105 Ave Miraflores Southeast Marin, CA. 94920 January 9, 2015 Martin Edlund CEO Malaria No More 432 Park Avenue South, 4th Floor New York, NY. 10016 Dear Mr. Edlund: Hello, I am a thirteen-year-old 8th grade student at Del Mar Middle School. Since the seventh grade I have been interested in your organization, Malaria No More, as I believed malaria to be one of the worst diseases in the world. I recently donated to Malaria No More, and I would like to applaud you for helping to resolve one of the worst diseases ever to effect mankind and to inquire about donation or volunteer opportunities. Malaria kills over one million people a year, mostly children. Ninety percent of these deaths are in poor parts of Africa that cannot help treat malaria within their borders. This is why I think that your organization is so important to treating malaria. Malaria No More has helped decrease the malaria mortality rates among children less than five years of age, by fifty-eight percent. If you continue using Artemisinin-based combination therapies and mosquito nets I believe that this treatable, curable disease can really be eradicated. Malaria No More has helped cover over five million people with mosquito nets, one of the most important inhibitors to malaria transmission, and it has educated over five hundred thousand people about the importance of sleeping under a mosquito net. Although these efforts are clearly helping, I believe that Malaria no More should use a portion of its funding to help in the development of a malaria vaccine. This vaccine would tremendously reduce the amount of malaria illnesses. Last year I donated around fifty dollars to Malaria No More and I am interested in donating again. If Malaria No More had a local program around the San Francisco bay area, I would also be interested in volunteering in the program. If possible please inform me of donation or volunteering opportunities at Nadafr74@gmail.com. If Malaria No More continues to treat and prevent malaria infections, I believe that the eradication of this disease is in the near future. Although your efforts are clearly working, your organization should help to develop a malaria vaccine. I would also like to be informed of donation or volunteering opportunities, as I am interested in helping eradicate malaria. Thank you for reading my letter.
