    This study investigated the effects of rising global water temperatures on the filtration efficiency of freshwater mussels. The researcher tested the filtration efficiency of Elliptio complanata mussels kept at four different temperatures: 10°C, 15°C, 20°C, and 25°C. Filtration efficiency was measured by recording the transmittance of an algae-water mixture before and after the mussels filtered it for 25 minutes. Results showed that mussels kept at 10°C had the highest filtration efficiency, while those at 25°C had the lowest. Overall, filtration efficiency decreased with increasing water temperature, supporting the hypothesis.     Purpose:
    Theultimatepurposeofthisstudyistomodeltheeffectsofglobalwarmingsrisingwatertemperaturesonthefiltration

    Procedure:
    Forthisexperiment,fourcontainerswerepreparedtoeachmaintainthree
    Elliptiocomplanata
    specimenandtoeach
    representaspecifictemperature.Temperaturesof10,15,20and25wereusedtosimulaterisingwatertemperatures.
    Afteranacclimatizationperiodof5days,allmusselspecimenweretestedforfiltrationefficiencybyrecordinganinitial
    transmittancepercentageofanalgaewatermixtureandafinaltransmittancepercentageofthesamealgaewatermixtureafterthe
    specimenreceived25minutestofilterthroughit.

    Conclusion:
    Accordingtothedata,theformedhypothesiswasindeedsupportedbecausethespecimenlivinginthe10
    environmenthadthemostfiltrationefficiencywhencomparedtothelowestfiltrationefficiencyofthe25environment.Results
    alsodisplayedthattherewasagradualnegativecorrelationbetweenthedecreaseoffiltrationefficiencyinregardstotheincrease
    ofwatertemperatures.Therefore,itcanbesaidthatglobalwarmingsraisedwatertemperaturesdoindeednegativelyaffectthe
    filtrationoffreshwatermusselsbecausethepurificationsystemsaretoosensitivetohandleextremehottemperatures.
