Epidemiology abuse of
Drugs

Drug is the abbreviation of narcotics, psychotropic and


addictive substances. The word drug comes from the Greek
meaning Narke drugged so as not to feel anything. Some
say narcotics derived from the word narcissus, similar
plants that have flowers that can make people unconscious.
WHO states that is a psychotropic drug that is working on or
affect psychic function, behavior or experience. Actually
psychotropic introduced since the birth of a new branch of
pharmacology that is devoted to learning psikofarmaka
psychopharmacology (medications that are efficacious
against central nervous system) or psychotropic
Drug abuse is the use of the drug for medicinal purposes or is
not used without following the rules or supervision of a
physician, used many times, sometimes or continuously,
often lead to addiction or dependence, both physical /
physical, mental and emotional, giving rise to physical
disorders, mental-emotional and social functioning.

Etiology

Most drug use begins in adolescence or

psychological and social which is rapidly

the home, school, peers and community.

Epidemiology
Based on data collected from 641 respondents BNN
2001, most were drug abusers who use the suction
method (26.7%) and injectable (22.2%). In 2002,
of the 1,936 drug abusers who consume drugs by
means of suction was 42.3%, and injecting drug
use by 24.4%, the rest is the oral way.
Marijuana is an illicit substance most widely used. In
2000, 76% of these substances used illicit
substance use. Approximately 59% of users only
consume controlled substances marijuana and
other illicit substances.
