Philippine Veterans Authority Act

Introduction
The Philippine Veterans Authority Act or the AN ACT INTEGRATING ALL AGENCIES
AND OFFICES ON VETERANS WELFARE, CREATING FOR THE PURPOSE THE
PHILIPPINE VETERANS AUTHORITY (PVA), APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR,
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES is a bill sponsored by Sen. Antonio F. Trillanes and authored
by Francisco Ashley L. Acedillo and Gary C. Alejano. This bills main objective is to create an
authority; the main function of this authority is to harmonize all efforts in generating and
maximizing financial sources and facilities that support all veterans welfare programs designed
to alleviate the plights of our veterans. Also it will provide a Veterans Welfare Fund, it will
guarantee the continuous payment of benefits and implementation of welfare programs and
projects for veterans and their dependents, especially for health and medical services program.
There are at least eight agencies that are working for the welfare of veterans and military retirees
and they are; Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, Philippine Veterans Assistance Commission, the
Board of Trustees of the Veterans of World War II, Philippine Veterans Investment and
Development Corporation (PHIVIDEC), PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority, Philippine Veterans
Bank, Veterans Federation of the Philippines, and the AFP Retirement and Separation Benefits
System.
