How does your media product represent particular

social groups?
My media product represents the particular social group in different ways, the
hip hop and rap genre has been stereotyped for years and will continue to be
stereotyped to of being consumed by lower class urban teens. I believe the low
price and the protagonists and models on my magazine do this well. The
magazine is designed for urban people aged between 16.25 I have effectively
targeted this as my magazine models all fit within this age bracket. The mise en
scene of the models is correct for the genre and may represent the social group
as lower class as they are all wearing either hoodies tracksuit or ill-fitting
clothing a stereotypical representation of the social group which consume this
magazine and music genre. The magazine you can recognise that the racial
minorities are more attracted to this genre as you can see this y the models.
Most of the music people may see as derogatory towards women therefore we
experience females in this social group on a less frequent basis, this is once
again shown by the models and articles within my music magazine. However this
is challenged and represents the females in this social group as it has a picture of
a female rap group although they tend to be a rare thing or at least more rare
than male rap groups.
