2015 Can Collection

In celebration of Earth Day 2015, Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation and
the Virginia Beach Clean Community Commission are hosting a can
collection drive. We invite all schools* to participate. Please see below for
details. All cans collected will be recycled and proceeds will benefit Project
Green Teens oyster reef project.

Now until April 18 collect cans at home and at school (this includes aluminum
drink cans, soup cans, vegetable & fruit cans).
Bring cans in a bag or box labeled with your schools name to the Earth Day
Celebration at Mount Trashmore on Saturday, April 18 from 11am to 4pm (rain
date: Sunday, April 19 11am to 4pm).
Cans will be collected, weighed and recorded on site at the Project Green Teens
booth. Each student who brings cans to the event will receive a small prize
courtesy of the Virginia Beach Clean Community Commission.
The school that collects and submits the most cans by weight will receive a
plaque and $250 in cash from the Virginia Beach Clean Community Commission.
(Prize money will be delivered to the winning school within 4 weeks of the event
conclusion.)
