Reflection
I have grown as an effective reader a lot from 6th grade. In 6th grade I
did not understand the books we read and could not make any
connections and didnt understand what figurative language was. In
my story Around the World With Phileas Fogg I say, I wasnt really
scared I was happier that I got out of that cave. This quote is
demonstrating the lack of detail by my word choice. Instead of using
scared I could have used a hyperbole like I was as happy as a ray of
sunshine on a cloudy day. In 6th grade and 7th grade I read many books
with my class. Most of the books I could not comprehend. This year I
have been able to take detailed notes on the books and I am able to
comprehend them. In 6th grade I did not use strong vocabulary words. I
did not realize how many people use words that I dont know. This
year, the vocabulary words I have learned, I have heard and seen
being used and I now know what they mean.
