Legislation To Limit Lobbying By Government Officials Unanimously Clears
House Judiciary Committee
Santa Fe, NM Legislation that would bar public officials from becoming lobbyists immediately after leaving their post cleared the House Judiciary Committee by a bipartisan 9-1 vote. The bill would require elected officials and some government workers to wait two years after leaving their post to become a paid lobbyist. This is about integrity and transparency in our government. I look forward to voting for this bill, said Rep. Jim Dines, the bills sponsor. The ban includes statewide elected officials, former public regulation commissioners, state legislators and cabinet secretaries. ###
