Legislation That Would Exempt Out-of-State Events from Gross Receipts

Santa Fe, NM Legislation that would make some out-of-state events exempt from
gross-receipt taxes passed the House floor by a unanimous 65-0 vote. The bill (HB
219) is sponsored by Rep. John Zimmerman.
This legislation will save universities like NMSU resources that can be better spent
elsewhere, Zimmerman said.
The exemption would include performances and events that are recreational,
athletic or entertainment in nature that happen outside of the state. This is for
events that are open to the public.
