Vocabulary
1. Circulation: The movement of the blood through the body that is
caused by the pumping action of the heart.

2. Heart: Organ located in the front part of your chest that pumps blood
though your veins and arteries.

3. Artery: A vessel that carries blood high in oxygen from the heart to all
parts of the body.

4. Vein: A vessel that carries blood low in oxygen from the body back to
the heart.

5. Capillary: A tiny blood vessel that connects an arteriole (small part of


an artery) with a venule
(small part of a
vein).

6. Red blood cells: Cells that carry oxygen from the lungs to other parts
of the body.

7. White blood cells: Cells that help the body fight infections.
