The King of Spain is Felipe
VI. He is the constitutional
monarch. The kings role is
to dissolve the legislature,
propose candidates for the
office of Prime Minister,
and head the armed forces.

CREATED IN 1978.

Communities in Spain
Spain is a united country, however there are
a collection of autonomous communities and
functions. There are 17 different
communities located in Spain. Each of these
communities has their own elections,
governments, and regionals powers.
Mariano Rajoy is the Prime
Minister of Spain. He was
elected in November 2011.

Parliament
The elected Prime Minister
hand-picks a Council of
Ministers. They are the heads
of the executive branch in the
government.
General Courts
There are two chambers of
the General Courts. These
make up the legislative
branch in the government.
The two chambers are the
Congress of Deputies and the
Senate. Each province elects
two senators and at least two
deputies. However, the
amount of deputies in each
province is proportional to
that province's population.
