BEFORE THE PROJECT


Quiz:
How do we use Pythagorean Theorem?
Grad 9, Geometry
Students will go to this site:
http://www.transum.org/software/SW/Starter_of_the_day/Students/pythagoras.asp .
They will answer all levels on the quiz and after that they will pass their scores in a
sheet of paper to be recorded by the teacher.
This will be used to assess the students learning about Pythagorean Theorem
which is important before engaging them on the proceeding activities.

Proving Pythagorean Theorem
What is Pythagorean Theorem?
Grade 9, Geometry
Students will search videos that supports/shows the Pythagorean Theorem. The
video should be just 2 to 3 minutes. They must download it and present it on class.
Through this activity, they would have a clearer understanding of how c2 became equal
to the sum of b2 and a2 in Pythagorean Theorem.
This is important before engaging the students in the actual application of the
Pythagorean Theorem.
Group Planning and Brainstorming:
Representing the Problem
What is the illustration of the problem?
How can I Illustrate the problem?
Grade 9, Geometry
The teacher will give each group(5 members) a problem. Now that they have a
clearer understanding of the Pythagorean Theorem, they are now ready to illustrate their
problem. Before solving the problem, the students will construct a draft of the illustration
of the problem. The illustration represents the general concept of their problem. They will
eventually use their illustration in their actual project.
DURING THE PROJECT

The students will present their solution to the class through a powerpoint
presentation. They will include the illustration of their problem that they have come up
with during the brainstorming in one slide of the powerpoint.
Their classmates will be allowed to asked questions and make clarifications
about on their solution.

The students will present their own made video about the uses and importance of

solving right triangles. They will be allowed to use any free video editing application.
Through this activity, the students would be able to realize the value of learning right
triangles in real life situation.
