Dear Judges:
My name is Jenna Gore and I am a junior at St. James High School. Although I am not
graduating this year, I am looking forward to that important milestone in my life. As of now, I am
thinking of going to an in-state college for Elementary Education, but that may change by the
time I graduate.
In the summer of 2011, before my freshman year of high school, my dad was hired as a
Detention Officer with the city of Myrtle Beach. In the beginning of March 2015, he graduated
from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, again, and began his career as a Police
Officer for MBPD. Ever since he started as a DO, the subject of criminals has interested me
deeply. I would spend numerous nights when he was working to watch the officers book inmates
into jail, from behind a one sided window. I knew when I found out that I had to do a research
project that I would relate it into criminal justice.
Senior Exploration has been a fun journey for me. I have learned so much about juvenile
offenders and how they should be charged and how illegal substances most definitely impact a
teenagers life. This project has taught me time management and Im grateful for that. I am
hoping that this experience has prepared me for English 101 at HGTC next year as a senior.
Thank you for taking to your time to volunteer to be a Senior Exploration judge and I look
forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Jenna Gore
