Choral Warm-ups

Why reinvent the wheel? Regarding the questions of choral warm-ups (i.e. what are they,
when to use them, and what is their function), you have only to look at the many sources
available to you already. Mistakes that directors often make are using certain warm-ups
simply because they are always used, or because your director used them but you dont
know why, or since you have been told to do warm-ups you therefore feel some
obligation to do so without giving thought to their function and relevance to repertoire.
Warm-ups can be a vital part of the choral experience when used properly. Warm-ups can
also be counterproductive and even harmful when used inappropriately. The following is
a list of several links to more sources than you will ever need.
