Education Goals in India

In this research of India I will be informing you of the progress in the goals set for their
education system by the UN officials. The first goal is to make sure every child is in school. The
second goal is to make primary education free for all and that it is quality teaching. The third
goal is to make sure that while they are in school, they are provided with a free nutritious meal.
We will review if these goals have been accomplished and effective.
The education system in India has many glitches needing attention. There was a gender
preference for receiving education geared towards males and definitely not the females. There
seems to be improvement since the United Nations Global Initiative for Education was
implemented. Each country was given a set of goals to guide them for success. They were also
given a deadline of achievement date. That goal for education was to achieve universal primary
education. Within that goal they had to put every child in school, give them quality of learning
and global citizenship.
Goal #1
Education is a social, economic, and political challenge. The future of all children to
receive an education involves the community, parents and the government. The goal of making
sure that all children are placed in school to receive a good education was a difficult task. They
need to make all the necessary investments to ensure that every child has equal access to
schooling. (Global Education First Initiative , 2015) Other factors made it difficult to achieve this
goal besides funding. Despite impressive strides forward at the start of the decade, progress in
reducing the number of children out of school has slackened considerably. (United Nations
Development Programme, 2014) Children were not attending from conflicted areas.

Goal #2
The second educational goal was the quality of learning. It was important that the
teachers instructing students could be effective in teaching the content. This is judged to be "on
track", the main indicator being primary school enrollment. Recent estimates put this number at
above 90 per cent. (Rediff Business, 2014) There has been some adjustments made to the goal
which they are providing teaching-learning materials relevant to their curriculum and local
needs. However, there is a situation where they need a better attendance record kept, many
students come and go as they see fit. Parents should be held accountable for their childs
attendance.
Goal #3
The third goal is fostering global citizenship. If these children receive an
education they can to use in the real world, it will benefit not only them but all of us and the
future of the world. Education has the power to shape a sustainable future and better world.
(Global Education First Initiative , 2015) Another part of this goal is to eliminate gender
disparities at all levels of education. This is assessed to be "on track" for primary and secondary
education, but "slow" for higher education. (Rediff Business, 2014)
More Goals
Education is what makes the country stronger. If this country continues to push the
parents to make sure that their children attend school, this countrys future will be in a better
standing. It is important to continue the universal enrollment of all children, including girls and
persons belonging to scheduled Castes and scheduled tribes. (Education for all in India, 2015)
They should also consider educating the parents on how to read and write, so that they can help
their children at home with the daily homework assignments. There should be a program

implemented to help teachers improve their teaching skills and phase out any biases. It should be
everyones responsibility to do their part in order to succeed to have a better life for their
childrens future.

Tables

Gross enrollment ratio for primary.

Total is the total enrollment in
primary education, regardless of
age, expressed as a percentage of
the population of official primary
education age. GER can exceed
100% due to the inclusion of overaged and under-aged students
because of early or late school
entrance and grade repetition.
