Goals From Last Week

Last week, I needed to figure out what the columns in the spreadsheet that I didnt understand. I
did this and I emailed Ms. Urban and she explained them. I also needed to contact Gregory
Lincoln about their composting system. I forgot to do that, because I was busy organizing with
the teachers at T.H. Rogers to teach their students about recycling. I also needed to decide which
3 schools I was going to target. I decided that I only wanted to target one school, which was T.H.
Rogers, because elementary school students are very malleable and are open to new ideas.
However, to make up for the other 3 schools I am going to 6 classrooms in grades 2-4 Then, I
need to contact Ms. Urban and come up with possible solutions to make them recycle more. I am
still working on them. Finally, I needed to contact the principal and see if I could set up a pep
rally of sorts to bring awareness to the kids about recycling. I decided that I wanted to do it in a
more intimate setting than a pep rally so I am going to the individual classrooms and its cleared
with the teachers. I am ordering the materials on 3/28. I also need to figure out how I can get my
fishing net utilized or at least alert our mayor to the growing problem of the lack of recycling in
our community. So, I am going to write a letter to the mayor.

Mentor

I emailed Ms. Urban to ask her about if she thought teaching the small children was a good idea,
but she didnt reply. I also should probably email Adrienne about how the net is coming and
about the idea to teach the children. So, I can do that next week.

Research

This week I didnt do a lot of research, because I was emailing all of the teachers at T.H. Rogers
and working with Cecilia to format the email and decide what schools we are going to. However,
my library card expired so I got that fixed and got a new library card. I checked out 5 books,
three are on coral reefs, one is on how to reduce waste, and the last one is on the essentials of
recycling. The essentials of recycling book is very helpful, because there are a lot of pictures to
show the children.

Goals for Next Week

Next week, on Tuesday Im going to T.H. Rogers with Cecilia so I have to keep in contact with
the teachers and form a lesson plan. Ms. Hill told me I should look up recycling lesson plans,
because I have to keep the language very simple because the children are very young. I also have
to order the net materials. After that, Ill start forming the binder of pictures and worksheets from
the events.
